In times of lockdown

Hi everyone who is reading my post. Hope you are safe at home. I was getting bored so just thought of writing my heart out on the current situation across the world. Hope you can connect to me while reading this blog.

A microscopic virus has forced us today to be locked down in our homes, with fear and panic prevalent all across the world. No one could have predicted or imagined, in their wildest of dreams, that they have to witness this day when the situation would be out of control. Everyone has suffered in some or the other way. Talking only about our very own country, the government is already struggling to bring it under control, investors are continuously losing money in share market, factories have either shut down or the production is halted, resulting in loss of jobs of employees working there. Daily wage laborers are affected the most and they are forced to flee from the metro cities to their respective homes, since they are unemployed now and they don't have roof above their head. The image being shown in the media is quite scary. We don't know when this pandemic will end but it has forced the humans to introspect and re-prioritize their life.

I think the past one month has changed our perspective towards life. Before this, we were taking everything for granted, cribbing about all the discomforts and continuously running behind materialistic things. But this unexpected situation has put a break on our already accelerating pace of life. We have realized that it's perfectly fine to sit back and relax sometimes for a while and appreciate this gift of life and the nature amidst which we are breathing. Nothing is permanent and more important than our health and the well being of our family & our loved ones. The real satisfaction can be found in the smallest of things. The enjoyment and thrill we search outside, can be found in everyday moments, which we usually miss to acknowledge in our busy life.

Who could have imagined the roads of metro cities to be empty for so many days? Who could have imagined the AQI (Air Quality Index) level of a city like Delhi could go below 50? Who could have imagined that the world's largest sports event, 'Olympics' had to be postponed till next year? Who could have imagined that the Nifty would crash 4000 points within 2-3 weeks? And most importatly, who could have imagined that we would be facing a situation in which we could not step out of our homes?

By the way, I just had to shut down my laptop to go to the main entrance gate of our society, to collect my order from Milkbasket. Who would have imagined that they will not find the packet of milk (which they had ordered the previous night) in front of their doorstep, when they will wake up the next morning? At least not me. 😁 But anyways, kudos to all the essential service providing companies and the delivery guys who are a lifeline to us in these tough times.

The point being that this is a situation we could not have imagined in our wildest of dreams. But this has been a reality now and it has made us aware of a bitter truth which we often overlook- "We can have our own scripts for the future, but the final script which becomes the present one day, is written by destiny." We could have hundreds of plans and dreams in our mind but we are mere puppets in the hands of destiny. So in this time of panic and uncertainty, let's not fear the uncertain, but instead recollect all the beautiful memories from our past and relish them once again, which we usually forget to appreciate when we are busy chasing the uncertainty of future.
